Who is responsible for your data

This website is operated by TSMC, ul. św. Filipa 23/3, 31-150 Kraków, Poland. We are the controller of the personal data described below. You can reach us at editor@thesourcemap.com.

What we collect

We do not use Google Analytics, advertising networks, tracking pixels or any similar third-party analytics service, and we never sell or rent your data. We do keep our own simple visit log so we can see that the site is working and which sources people find useful. For each page view, and for each click on an outbound link to a source, we record:

  • the date and time, and the page on the site;
  • your IP address, which is treated as personal data under the GDPR;
  • your browser's user-agent string (browser and operating system);
  • the country your IP address resolves to;
  • for an outbound click, the address of the source you opened.

We do not create profiles, we do not combine this log with any other data, and we do not use it to identify individual visitors.

To turn an IP address into a country name we send that IP address to ipwho.is, an external lookup service. No other information about you is sent there.

If you choose to use one of our forms — suggesting a source, sending a correction or making an enquiry — we store what you type, including your name and e-mail address if you provide them. We use it only to handle your message, and we do not pass it to anyone else.

Cookies and local storage

We use only the cookies the website needs to function. We set no advertising or tracking cookies. Specifically:

  • ts_access — remembers that you have entered the access code while the site is in private preview.
  • ts_guide — remembers that you have already seen the short introduction, so it is not shown again.
  • A sign-in cookie for editors, set only for people with an account in the editing panel.
  • ts_cookie_consent— stored in your browser's local storage so the cookie notice is not shown again once dismissed.

Why we may do this, and your rights

We keep the visit log on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and understanding which sources are worth adding. We handle what you send through a form on the basis of your own request to us. We keep the visit log for up to 24 months and delete it automatically after that.

You have the right to ask us what data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to our use of it, and to receive a copy of it. Write to editor@thesourcemap.com and we will respond. If you believe we have handled your data wrongly, you may complain to the Polish supervisory authority, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych, ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw).

Changes to this Privacy and Terms

This Privacy Policy and Terms are effective as of (21st September, 2026) and will remain in effect except with respect to any changes in its provisions in the future, which will be in effect immediately after being posted on this page. We reserve the right to update or change our Privacy Policy and Terms at any time and you should check this Policy periodically. Your continued use of the Service after we post any modifications to the Privacy Policy and Terms on this page will constitute your acknowledgment of the modifications and your consent to abide and be bound by the modified Privacy Policy and Terms. If we make any material changes to this Privacy Policy and Terms, we will notify you by placing a prominent notice on our website.
